GIBSON CITY - Doris J. Arnold, 94, of Gibson City went home to be with her Lord at 11:58 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 1, 2011).
Her celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at The First Christian Church in Gibson City, with the Rev. Ed Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City.
Mrs. Arnold was born Sept. 20, 1917, in Vermillion County, a daughter of Clyde and Flossie (White) Gravat. She married Raymond R. Arnold on Sept. 20, 1937, in Covington, Ind. He died on January 31, 1997.
Surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline (Kenneth) Curtis of Gibson City and Raylene (David) Gilbert of Gibson City; four grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 12 great-great- grandchildren with one on the way. She was preceded in death by one sister.
Doris was a member of the First Christian Church in Gibson City, the Christian Women's Fellowship, Ford County Home Extension and past president of the Gibson City Senior Citizens Club. She was a retired glass blower and a music lover and enjoyed playing cards and dominos and being with her grandchildren.
She used her God-given gift of encouragement to enrich the lives of all who crossed her path. Memorial tributes may be made to the First Christian Church or to the Gibson Area Hospital.
