Jack E. Berkler, age 64, of Gibson City died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, at the Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City, with the Rev. Kevin Boesen officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday before the funeral.
Mr. Berkler was born March 11, 1945, in Champaign, a son of Richard E. and Eilene E. Adkins Berkler.
Jack is survived by five sons, J.D. (Sarah) Berkler of Gibson City, Jason (Heather) Berkler of Gibson City, Cody Berkler of West Virginia, Robert Berkler of North Carolina and Thomas Berkler of West Virginia; four daughters, Jackie (Jeff) Green of Glendale, Ariz., Judy (Rick) Bryson of Nevada, Mo., Michelle Langenfeld of Hoopeston, and Julie (Kent) Steinman of Gibson City; 19 grandchildren; his mother, Eilene Loeschen of Gibson City; his brother, Charles Berkler of Gibson City; one half brother, Mark Berkler; two half sisters, Perri and Keri Berkler; and two sisters, Patty Lindsey of Paxton and Eunice "Sis" Beal of Surprise, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his father and one grandson.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to his family.
