GIBSON CITY - Paul "Tom" Breeden, 84, of Gibson City died at 10:47 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 27, 2011) at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 1, 2011) at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City. Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lamb Funeral Home.
Mr. Breeden was born Sept. 27, 1927, in rural Paxton. A son of William and Mallie (Parks) Breeden. He married Rosemary Williamson in February 1947; she preceded him in death. He then married Virginia Kingsley on Feb. 21, 1976, in Fairbury; she also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Bill (Debby) Breeden of Aledo, Connie Sample of Kentland, Ind., Jim Breeden of Melvin and Kenney (Cathy) Breeden of Loda; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Johnson of Cocoa Beach, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Paul was an army veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW. He was a heavy equipment operator and later started his own dredging business. He was a 40-year member of the Operators Union No. 841. He loved to talk and never knew a stranger. He loved to go deer hunting but would never shoot one. Memorial tributes may be made to the Gibson City VFW.
