Harold Loyd Bowers
Harold Loyd Bowers of 601 Forest Drive, South Boston, Virginia died Monday, February 2, 2009 at South Boston Manor. He was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia January 17, 1935 and was 74 years of age. He was the son of the late Willie Loyd Bowers and Nomie Elsie Little Bowers and was married to Margie Barnes Bowers, who survives. Mr. Bowers was a member of South Boston Seventh Day Adventist Church where he was an Elder. He was retired as a Regional Manager with Colt Industries, Holley Carburetor Division. He was a 23-year Veteran of the Virginia National Guard.
Survivors of Mr. Bowers include his wife of South Boston, Va.; two daughters, Stephanie Elaine Bowers of Loma Linda, Calif. and Sheryl Satterfield McWilliams and husband Dan of Topsham, Maine; three sisters, Pauline Law, Margaret Morris and Frances Ashworth, all of Richmond, Va.; and one grandchild, Jasmine McWilliams of Topsham, Maine.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 6, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Daniel V. Darrikhuma officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Rites.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home.
